butter by nadia online sample sale!

Have you heard about Butter by Nadia? I think these dresses are the most genius ideas on the planet! Most of them can be worn in a multitude of different, sexy ways. I don't know why I still don't own one! Well, okay, it's really because they're not all that cheap (the price for a dress hovers around $250) and I'm a little intimidated by the "one size fits all" thing. I'd love to get this dress on the left, for instance, but the length might hit mid-calf for me since I am not exactly supermodel-sized.

But non-munchkins should definitely check out the online sample sale going on until June 21st at the Butter by Nadia website! There are some great deals, like this signature dress on the left now at just $125. The versatile jersey ball gown is just $155, and there's a bunch of very cute dresses as low as $65. Check it out here.

Happy Saturday everyone!

sample sale alert: butter by nadia

How can a sample sale be worth trekking all the way to Brooklyn for? Easy. See all those looks below? That's just one dress that can be worn in a multitude of ways:

I've been dying for a Butter by Nadia wrap dress for ages for its incredible versatility. I mean, a dress that can take you from Saturday cocktails to Sunday brunch (hopefully not successively ... or hey, maybe that would be a sign of a steaming hot love life heehee!) is a definite keeper, right? I'm thinking that these convertible dresses would also make amazing bridesmaid outfits. It comes in one size and can be worn multiple ways, so it makes everything way simpler for the bride-to-be to coordinate.

However badly I want this dress though, I am in no position to shop as there are too many Christmas gifts to spend on. I will hold off until the next sample sale when hopefully, this Hannah dress that I covet will pop up:

To all those willing and able to treat themselves to a workhorse of a dress though, happy shopping!

UPDATE: theory sample sale

UPDATE: Editing yesterday's post on the Theory sample sale. According to Christina from Theory's PR division, the sale kicked off a day early. Will have to restrain myself from sprinting there after work today!

I'm still jonesin' for these Theory skinny pants that I spotted at the Outlet for just $75, but having just charged $190 on my Visa for that wonderful puffercoat, I couldn't let myself pick up any. But as they say, things happen for a reason, and maybe I'll get a shot at some newer, hotter styles at the Theory sample sale that starts this Friday Thursday! Here are the new details:

When:
Thursday & Friday, December 4th: 11am – 7pm
Saturday, December 5th - Sunday, December 6th: 11am - 5pm
Monday, December 7th - Wednesday, December 9th: 11am - 7pm

sample sale alert: catherine malandrino

Do you have days when you feel like you just need a great big old head bang session? I do. I'd really love an all out head bang session right about now. Preferably with a big old beautiful fur around my shoulders.

But I digress. That photo of the headbangin' chick in gorgeous Malandrino fur and silk is up there not just for my vicarious hair-flipping enjoyment but because there's a Catherine Malandrino sample sale taking place in a few weeks! Merchandise will be marked down by up to 80% below retail price. The sample sale goes from December 14 to 16, 2009 at Metropolitan Pavilion, 123 West 18th Street (between 6th & 7th Avenues), New York, NY 10011. Good time to pick up a little something glamorous for all those holiday parties, I say ...

feeling the blues

Last night I started thinking that once I get the right to shop for clothes back, maybe I should invest in some colored bags and shoes. I was thinking poppy colors like red, mustard or aquamarine, but today I'm really liking navy. I really like this navy bag by Rebecca Minkoff at Saks. It's a tad pricey at $595 but maybe I'm the luckiest gal in the world (doubtful) and I'll find it at the Rebecca Minkoff sample sale that starts tomorrow. The particulars:

Discount: Up to 70% off
When: May 6-10, 10 am -8 pm
Where: 33 West 17th Street, between Fifth & Sixth Avenues

ahhh-choo!

Images via Outnet.com, the alternative to picking a fight at the Jimmy Choo sample sale

Being sick sucks. Especially when you find out that a Jimmy Choo sample sale is taking place today, Thursday, from 1-7PM at the The Metropolitan Pavilion on 125 West 18th Street, between Sixth & Seventh Aves. On my best day I know that elbowing it out for Choos will be quite taxing, but when my head feels like it's the size of Mexico, I just don't have it in me. But wait. I've been sneezing and sniffling all day, and noticed how people visibly back away from me every time I do. This is a city, after all, that's scared sh*tless of the swine flu right now. Maybe I can clear the path to a size 5 1/2 pair of stilettos by some unhealthy sneezing and coughing? Something to consider.

Fastest Clickers Ever

Hautelook shoppers have the fastest fingers ever, I swear. Within 15 minutes these La Rok dresses were all sold out. I guess at prices of $119.20 for these dresses it's not a hard decision to click "Checkout." Oh well. Better for me. I've just paid off this month's CC bills and I am seriously not allowed to shop anymore.

What's the opposite of buyer's remorse?

Stuff I missed on Rue La La today. This Kooba purse was just $99!! No wonder it sold out in flash.
I'm really unhappy about this Alice + Olivia dress, which was only $79 because I had it in my cart but failed to checkout right away, so I lost it. ARGH!
Oh well.

Tracy Reese on Gilt Groupe

Loving this outfit being sold on Gilt Groupe right now at the Tracy Reese sale:

Love the braided one shoulder top and LOOOOOVE the shorts with embroidered ikat pattern and rivets:

Unfortunately, can't muster up the courage to spend $78 on shorts, even though they are gorgeous ones. The top is nice but its only made out of viscose and nylon so I can't justify the $88 price either. But love the look, wish it cost a little bit less.

Hello Junior Drake

How come we've never met before? Gorgeous quadruplets on sale at Hautelook.com for $264 from $528. I'm not allowed to shop, but far be it for me to deny you a gorgeous bag!

Lovely Leather

Loving this oh-so-pretty lamb leather jacket by Mackage. On sale now at Hautelook and tempting me at the price of $297—that's 50% off the retail price of $594. Trying to convince myself that's it's probably blindingly white in real life and just not worth my money ...

I'm kinda impressed, LC ... but not THAT much

I've always thought Lauren Conrad dresses were kinda cute, but no way in hell was I ever gonna pay over $200 for dresses so basic. I guess a lot of girls felt the same way because when Hautelook did a Lauren Conrad sample sale today, most of the cute dresses were on hold or sold out before the clock hit 12:30pm (fyi for non-members, Hautelook and most other sample sale websites open up their "shops" at 12 noon). At $40, of course these dresses are totally worth it. I'd buy them if they were regularly priced in the $75-$90 range. But $220? Hell no! I think that in these tough times, designers and pseudo designers should bring their ideas of what they think their clothes are worth back down to earth.

Today on Gilt Groupe

I was invited to join Gilt Groupe a few months ago by my ever-so-fashionable best friend Sonu, and I have loved her extra for it ever since! Of all the online sample sale websites out there, Gilt Groupe has got to be my favorite. When they say they're having an Oscar de la Renta sale, they mean Oscar de la Renta apparel—not sunglasses, shoes or some cop-out accessory. They have a really eclectic selection of both mainstream and more obscure designers. I am particularly fond of the jewelry designers they select. There are always some amazing deals to be had, and my heart leaps a little everytime I see a Gilt Groupe email in my inbox!

So far, I've bought a patent black Cynthia Rowley bag from one of the sales for just about $189, and I am so happy with my purchase. If I hadn't already locked away my plastic for the today, I would've been tempted with one of these purchases:

Kooba bag now priced at $298 from $695

A cool boy-cut blazer with elbow patches by Zero + Maria Cornejo priced at $328 from, get this, $1,020!

This lovely gold drizzle necklace by Gurhan. Ok, I probably won't get this because it's still $2,500 (although discounted from $6,400)

If you're not on Gilt Groupe yet but would like to join, feel free to use my invitation link. Enjoy!

Tick tock ...

30 minutes & counting standing in line at the Hermes sample sale. Will I get fired over an Hermes scarf? Yikes. I'll give it 15 more minutes before I wave the white flag ...

... DEFEAT. Utter defeat. I had to give up after an hour of lining up brought me to about 15 meters from the door (that's still faaaar in sample sale lineup time). So sad ... must do comfort shopping after work to ease the pain ...
