a stoop to call my own

I've always wanted a stoop. So I fell in love instantly when I walked up to this brownstone and saw the charming stoop with lush ivy snaking down the building. I love the my new tree- and brownstone-lined block. To me, it looks like Carrie Bradshaw might come bounding out the door in Manolos anytime. Absolutely what I dreamt my Manhattan home would be—well okay, maybe I imagined a dressing area, shoe closet, full kitchen and dining room too but now I know how unrealistic that is for someone without a trust fund.

Yesterday was the crazy move in and today the apartment still looks like an airline check-in the day before Thanksgiving, with suitcases and boxes taking up practically all available floor space. There's still tons to be done: cleanup, unpacking, buying and probable building of furniture. But last night, as we sat on the stoop celebrating with ice cold Modelo Negras (which should be brown-bagged next time) I felt at home and very, very happy. Wish me luck on the rest!

Anon - you'll get there! I'm not completely roommate free, but I'd rather not elaborate here ... anyway thanks and good luck!

Tin - my apartment is so very New York. The landlord owns the restaurant on the bottom floor, and my super is the chef! How funny is that? I love it :-) Thanks!!!

Joy - hahaha right now the only thing to see inside are loads and loads of boxes and luggage. No furniture! So gotta actually buy furniture first before I can post pics heehee!
